Our Journey in Highway and Roadway Construction

Our story began in 1890, when Dean Word Company started moving dirt with mule teams for early road and levee construction projects across Louisiana. Within two decades, our capabilities expanded into bridge and culvert construction, paving the way for large-scale infrastructure work.

By the 1920s, we became one of the leading producers of tested aggregates and high-quality hot mix materials, allowing us to self-supply and maintain superior standards in roadway construction. Today, Dean Word Company continues to lead as one of the most trusted heavy highway contractors in Texas, managing numerous state highway and maintenance projects with precision and pride.
